In 2004 I was invited to join Guenda, an artist collective based in Oaxaca, Mexico.The word Guenda means 'the soul of all things" in the Zapotec language.
The group consists of 10 base members,all women,working in a variety of media.Between us we speak five languages,and the members are spread out in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico City, Germany, Oregon and Seattle.We have exhibited our work in Yucatan, Juchitan,Newport, Mexico City, Oaxaca,Germany and Cuba.We also try to enrich our exhibits with workshops,cultural exchange,and we are always planning for more. In 2007 Guenda was invited to participate, representing Mexico, at a cultural festival in the city of Guantanamo, in Cuba.In august of 2009, Guenda will exhibit at the JosefaKate Gallery in Portland, Oregon.
