IN GOTHENBURG

This is a statue of Victor Hasselblad, the camera guy. His foundation gives out a big photo prize every year, and the winner also gets a big show at the Hasselblad Center, located in the Gothenburg Art Museum. This year the Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide got the award. She has an excellent photobook "Juchitan", with photos from Oaxaca. Last year, Nan Goldin filled the rooms, with an especially great and touching slideshow.

I am posting this because the last big format film photo lab in Seattle, Iveys, is closing on monday. Small buisnesses, as well as artists, are scrambling.
